Just wanted to no if there was anyway to tell a 351 from a 302 by the block itself did they have any different markings from the factory that sort of thing?

there are two ways the crank or the plug hole the castings on the block only tell what car its from i can get the plug hole measurements if you want just let me no because they are in storeage.

Do you know the engine number? Post it up.

351 or 302 makes no differance, They are both only good for a boat anchor

well some people say the same bout small block chevs with great big blowers on them don't no anyone personally but i'm sure there must be a couple in the world lol

There is not one bit of difference in the block as to weather it is a 351 or 302. The engines complete how ever different story. 302 had closed chamber heads as well as a stroke length of 3" and 351= 3.5" stroke

And if this is any help.

302 XA thru XC,, blue with red rocker covers.

302/4.9L XD/XE,, black with silver rocker covers and 4.9 sticker on RHS rocker cover.

351 2V XY thru early XB,, blue with orange rocker covers.

351 4V XW thru early XB,, blue with blue rocker covers.

351 2V with 2 brl carb late XB,, blue with red rocker covers.

351 2V with 4brl carb late XB/XC,, blue with blue rocker covers

351/5.8L XD/XE,, black with silver rocker covers and 5.8 sticker on RHS rocker cover.
